FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Urinary incontinence in women is most commonly caused by weakening of the pelvic floor muscles, which support the bladder and urethra. This weakening is often related to childbirth, hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause (particularly the decline in estrogen, which affects the strength of pelvic tissues), aging, and chronic strain from factors like coughing or high-impact activity. It is extremely common and very treatable. It is not something you simply have to accept.
-
We treat stress urinary incontinence (leakage with sneezing, laughing, or exercise), urgency incontinence (a sudden strong urge to urinate followed by leakage), and mixed incontinence, which is a combination of both. Our team will assess your specific presentation and recommend the most appropriate treatment approach.
-
We offer two main treatment pathways. Pelvic floor physiotherapy with Kristen Parise, PT addresses the muscular and functional causes of incontinence through targeted assessment and rehabilitation. The B-Pulse pelvic health chair uses electromagnetic stimulation to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles passively, without any internal components or discomfort. Both approaches can be used independently or together, and we will recommend the right fit based on your assessment.
-
The B-Pulse is a non-invasive pelvic health chair that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions per session. You sit fully clothed on the chair while it works. Each session is typically 30 minutes, and most clients notice improvements after a series of 6 sessions. It is an excellent option for women who are not ready for physiotherapy or who want to complement their existing treatment.
-
Pelvic floor physiotherapy with Kristen Parise, PT is a clinical assessment and treatment process carried out with full respect for your comfort and consent at every stage. Kristen explains each step before proceeding and works at a pace that feels right for you. Many clients feel significantly more at ease after the first appointment than they expected to beforehand.
-
No referral is needed. You can book directly with Kristen Parise, PT through our website or by calling or texting the clinic at 519-404-3444.
-
A consultation is the best starting point. Our team will take a full history, understand the nature and severity of your symptoms, and recommend the most appropriate treatment pathway. For some clients, physiotherapy alone is sufficient. Others benefit from the B-Pulse, hormone therapy to restore pelvic tissue strength, or a combination of all three. At Bonita, your care is coordinated across the whole team.
For clients who are planning to transition off a GLP-1, Metabolic Balance® is especially valuable. It builds the nutritional foundation and sustainable habits that help you maintain your results long after the medication is done.
As always, Jessica reviews each client's health history and medications individually to make sure the program is tailored to where you are right now.
