IPL, PICO, LASEMD ULTRA AND eCO2
IPL Photofacial and Laser Skin Treatments in Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph
Five lasers, because pigment, redness, texture and scarring don't all respond to the same one. Prices from $250.
Most people come in for one of three things, brown spots that surfaced after a summer, redness that has been creeping across the cheeks for years, or texture that makeup keeps settling into.
Those all need different devices, and some of those devices are not safe on every skin tone, so that is what the consultation is for. We take the time to look at your skin and talk through your goals, so we can get you the best result.
This is the part most people are never told. IPL and certain lasers carry a real risk of pigmentation change on deeper skin tones, which is why some clinics decline to treat them at all.
We run five platforms rather than one, so the device gets matched to your skin instead of your skin being fitted to whatever machine we happen to own. For hair removal, the Elite iQ reads your skin with an FDA-cleared Skintel melanin reader before we choose a setting. For pigment, PicoSure Pro is safer across a wider range of tones than IPL. For texture and resurfacing, LaseMD Ultra and eCO2 work at different depths for different concerns.
Sometimes the right answer is that laser is not the treatment for you yet, and we will tell you that.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL
The Elite iQ treats all skin types safely using dual wavelengths and an FDA-cleared Skintel melanin reader that measures your skin before we select a setting. Full details, treatment areas and pricing are on our laser hair removal page.
PHOTOFACIAL
The Elite IQ™ laser, the PicoSure Pro laser and the Icon IPL photofacial is a non-invasive procedure using advanced laser and IPL technology to help smooth skin and reduce the look of fine lines, dark spots, and wrinkles. Its primary use is to fade scarring, redness, and broken blood vessels, and to noticeably improve the look of rosacea.
Laser and IPL treatments deliver heat energy deep in the skin to increase collagen production, creating new skin cells to replace damaged cells for a smoother more even complexion.
LASEMD ULTRA RESURFACING
A non-ablative Thulium laser that creates microscopic channels in the skin, allowing serum to be delivered deeper than topical application alone. Used for tone, texture, fine lines and sun damage, with far less downtime than ablative resurfacing. Available for face, face and neck, or face, neck and chest.
Often paired with SkinPen microneedling and Potenza RF Microneedling.
LASER/IPL SKIN & BODY TREATMENTS
The Elite IQ™, PicoSure Pro, Icon IPL, and eCO₂™ 3D treatments use advanced laser and light technology to smooth fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven pigmentation including sun spots and age spots.
The eCO₂™ 3D offers an ablative option for deeper skin renewal, while the others provide gentle, non-invasive rejuvenation for a clearer, more radiant complexion.
-
The Elite IQ™ Laser, PicoSure Pro Laser, and eCO₂™ 3D Laser use precise pulses of light and energy to target pigmentation, sun damage, and brown spots. These imperfections absorb the energy, darken, and naturally slough off over 7–22 days. The eCO₂™ 3D also resurfaces the skin to address deeper pigment and texture concerns. All treatments can be used on the face or body to visibly improve clarity and tone.
-
Laser treatment for spider veins and broken vessels work by delivering high-intensity energy to the problem area. This energy is absorbed by the blood in the veins, which causes the vessels to heat up and collapse. Over time, the treated vein will fade away.
-
Leg vein treatment uses the same principle, with settings adjusted for the deeper, larger vessels found in the legs. Treatment takes under an hour and is minimally invasive. Please note that varicose veins are not suitable for laser treatment and should be assessed by a vascular specialist.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
At Bonita, a full face IPL photofacial is $250, or $750 for a package of four. Face and neck is $350 and face, neck and chest is $450. Most people having pigment or redness treated are booked for a series of three or four rather than one, so the package price is the number worth planning around. Your $50 laser consultation comes off the cost of your treatment.
-
For the things it is designed for, yes. IPL sends broad-spectrum light into the skin, the pigment and the blood vessels absorb it and heat up, and the body clears what has been damaged over the following one to three weeks. It works well on sun spots, brown patches, facial redness and broken capillaries. It does not resurface the skin and it is not a treatment for lines or laxity, which is where LaseMD Ultra, eCO2 and Potenza come in.
-
Two things to plan for. Brown spots go darker before they flake away, so you look worse before better for about a week, and people often book around that. And IPL is not safe on every skin tone. It targets pigment, so on deeper skin it can take the pigment you want to keep along with the pigment you do not, which is why we measure your skin with a Skintel reader before choosing a setting and will move you to PicoSure Pro instead when that is the safer call.
-
Photofacial is the common name for what an IPL device does to the face, so in most clinics they mean the same thing. The word photofacial gets used loosely though, and some clinics use it for LED or broadband light, which are different treatments with different results. Ask which device is being used.
-
No. IPL works on colour, so it will clear pigment and redness along the jawline and leave the laxity exactly as it was. Potenza RF microneedling is the treatment for firmness, and for some people neither one will give the result they are picturing, in which case a surgical consultation is the better conversation to be having.
-
What decides it is how much sun damage is there and what your skin tone is, and age tells us very little on its own. Plenty of our IPL clients are in their sixties and seventies and clear decades of accumulated sun spots. What does change over time is that pigment tends to sit alongside texture and laxity by then, so IPL on its own does less of the total job and gets paired with resurfacing.
-
Five platforms. Elite iQ for hair removal and vascular work, Icon IPL for photofacials, PicoSure Pro for pigment, melasma and tattoo removal, LaseMD Ultra for non-ablative resurfacing, and eCO2 for ablative resurfacing. We also run Potenza RF microneedling, which is covered on our microneedling page.
-
For IPL photofacial, most people are booked for three or four spaced about four weeks apart. Pigment that has built up over decades rarely clears in one session. LaseMD Ultra is commonly done as a series of four, and eCO2 is often a single treatment with a longer recovery. We will give you a number at your consultation rather than after you have paid.
-
Not every device is, which is the reason Bonita runs five. The Elite iQ uses an FDA-cleared Skintel melanin reader to measure skin before a setting is chosen, and PicoSure Pro is a safer choice than IPL across a wider range of tones. If skin tone and concern mean light-based treatment is not the right option, we say so instead of booking the treatment.
-
Hormone therapy is not a barrier, though hormones do influence melasma, so it is worth mentioning at your consultation because it changes which device we choose. We do not perform laser or IPL during pregnancy. It is a precaution rather than a known danger, and we will book you in afterwards.
