HAIR CONFIDENCE
Hair Loss & Hair Restoration in Waterloo Region
If thinning hair, hair loss, or slow regrowth is affecting your confidence, professional restoration treatments can help support fuller, healthier-looking hair. Our treatments are also ideal for supporting recovery and results after hair transplant procedures.
USUALLY IT IS HORMONAL
Hair Loss in Women Is Rarely a Scalp Problem
It is most often hormonal. Declining estrogen through perimenopause changes the growth cycle, and thyroid dysfunction, low iron, chronic stress and nutritional gaps all show up in your hair before they show up anywhere else.
Which is why treating the scalp alone often disappoints. Laser and growth factor serums work, and they work considerably better when whatever is driving the shedding has also been looked at.
At Bonita, Jessica Caceres, Nurse Practitioner, can assess the hormonal side as well as the scalp. Most clinics offering hair restoration cannot.
THE APPROACH

Someone Who Can Look Past the Scalp
Your laser treatments are performed by our medical aestheticians under the oversight of Jessica Caceres, Nurse Practitioner, and PRP is performed by Jess herself. Because hair loss in women is so often hormonal, she can also assess that side of it rather than sending you elsewhere to find out.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
More often than not it is hormonal. Declining estrogen through perimenopause changes the growth cycle, and thyroid dysfunction, low iron, chronic stress and nutritional gaps all show up in the hair before they show up anywhere else. Treating the scalp while the driver goes unaddressed is why a lot of people find hair treatments disappointing.
-
Most male hair loss is androgenetic, which means the follicles are genetically sensitive to DHT and gradually produce finer, shorter hairs until they stop altogether. It usually starts at the temples or the crown. That is the common version and it is still worth ruling out the others, because low iron, thyroid problems and stress cause shedding in men too, and they get missed when everyone assumes it is pattern baldness.
-
Minoxidil, finasteride and ketoconazole shampoo. That is the standard medication stack for male pattern hair loss, it works for a lot of men, and it is a daily commitment you keep up indefinitely. What we do at Bonita works alongside it. If you are already on minoxidil, keep going, and the laser and the serum layer on top of it.
-
LaseMD Ultra Hair Restoration at $600 a treatment, or $2,200 for a package of four, performed by our medical aestheticians. PRP Hair Rejuvenation at $500 a treatment, performed by Jessica Caceres, Nurse Practitioner. KeraFactor Scalp Stimulating Solution for use at home, included with every package. Jessica is a Nurse Practitioner, so the hormonal and nutritional side of hair loss gets assessed at the same appointment.
-
For thinning caught while the follicles are still alive, yes. Search this and you will mostly find laser caps you wear at home, which use low level red light, have reasonable evidence behind them and work slowly. We use a clinical fractional laser and pair it with a peptide serum, and people come in for a package of four, six or eight depending on where they are starting from.
-
No. A laser cap sits on your head at home and uses low level red light to stimulate the follicles, gently and slowly, and you keep doing it indefinitely. LaseMD Ultra is a fractional laser we use in the clinic. It opens microchannels in the scalp and improves circulation at the same time, and those channels are how the KeraFactor peptides get down to the follicle. Most topical hair products sit on the surface, and that is where they stay.
-
LaseMD Ultra is $600 a treatment at Bonita, and most people do a package. Four is $2,200 and includes one KeraFactor Scalp Stimulating Solution, six is $3,100 with two included, and eight is $4,000 with two. Your $50 consultation comes off your first treatment, and Bonita Elite members take 10% off.

Your scalp will be pink and feel warm for a few hours, a bit like a mild sunburn, and some people notice flaking for a day or two after. There is no downtime you need to plan around. It is a series though, so one treatment on its own will not do much, and the result fades if you stop keeping it up.
-
For the right kind of hair loss, yes, and the evidence is strongest for androgenetic thinning caught reasonably early. PRP concentrates the growth factors already in your blood and puts them where the follicles are, and follicles that have thinned but not closed can respond. Follicles that have been gone for years do not come back, and no treatment we or anyone else offers changes that.
-
At Bonita, PRP is $500 a treatment, so three is $1,500. Most people need three to six, so plan for $1,500 to $3,000 across the series. We do not sell PRP in a fixed package because how many you need depends on what is driving your hair loss, and that is what the consultation is for. Your $50 consultation comes off your first treatment.
-
Usually not. Most people need a minimum of three to six treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart. Two will start to show us whether your follicles are waking up, which is worth knowing early, and we reassess from there.
-
No. PRP for hair restoration is not an insured service in Ontario, so it is paid out of pocket. It is worth checking your extended health plan, because some plans cover treatments performed by a Nurse Practitioner even when OHIP does not.
-
Some people shed more for a few weeks after starting treatment, and it is unsettling. What is usually happening is that hairs sitting in the resting phase get pushed out as new growth comes up behind them. Tell us if it happens. We will also look at the other things that cause shedding, which is where the hormonal side of the assessment matters.
-
There is a blood draw and there are injections into the scalp, so if needles are a hard no, this one is not for you. It works as a series, so the real cost is $500 multiplied by three to six. And the result holds while you keep going, then fades once you stop. We tell people that going in.
-
Low iron is the one we find most often, ferritin in particular, because it can sit low enough to affect your hair while a standard blood count still reads normal. Vitamin D, B12 and zinc come up too, and so does thyroid function, which is not a vitamin but shows up in the hair the same way. This is why we assess rather than just treat the scalp.
-
Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons people come to us. Bonita does not perform transplants. What we do is support the result afterwards, both the transplanted follicles and the native hair around them that is often still thinning.
