OPTIMIZE FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Metabolic Balance®
Looking for a deeper approach to your metabolic and hormonal health?
Our Metabolic Balance®program creates a personalized nutrition plan built from your individual blood work, designed to reset your metabolism, support hormonal balance, and promote lasting wellness from the cellular level.
Nutrition plays a foundational role in how your body produces, processes, and responds to hormones. For many women navigating perimenopause and menopause, pairing hormone optimization with personalized nutrition creates results that go far beyond what either approach can achieve on its own. Better energy, more stable moods, improved sleep, reduced inflammation, and sustainable weight management.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Hormone therapy (HT) is the use of bioidentical or conventional hormones to replace or supplement the hormones your body is producing less of during perimenopause and menopause. At Bonita, hormone therapy is prescribed and managed by our Nurse Practitioner, Jessica Caceres, who holds membership with both the Canadian Menopause Society and The Menopause Society. This is evidence-based, individualized care, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
-
Many women are. A thorough consultation and lab work help us understand your hormonal picture before anything is prescribed. Hormone therapy is generally appropriate for women experiencing perimenopause or menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, sleep disruption, brain fog, mood changes, vaginal dryness, and low libido, who are within 10 years of their last period or under age 60. We review your personal and family health history together and make a decision that fits your whole picture.
-
Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical in structure to the hormones your body produces naturally. Conventional hormone therapy uses synthetic hormones that have a similar but not identical molecular structure. Both are clinically validated options. At Bonita, we prescribe based on your individual needs, your lab results, and your health history, not a trend or a blanket preference.
-
This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and it is completely understandable. For most healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks. The 2002 Women's Health Initiative study created significant confusion that has since been re-examined by leading menopause researchers.
Current evidence, including guidance from the Canadian Menopause Society, supports the safety and effectiveness of hormone therapy for the majority of perimenopausal and menopausal women. We go through this with every patient, transparently, with your specific risk profile on the table.
-
Most women begin to notice changes within 4 to 12 weeks, though the timeline varies by symptom and by individual. Sleep and mood often respond earlier. Vaginal and urogenital symptoms can take a few months to fully improve. We follow up with you throughout the process and adjust your protocol as needed. This is an ongoing relationship, not a prescription and a quick goodbye.
-
Before your appointment, you will complete a comprehensive health questionnaire sent to you at the time of booking, and your lab work will already be in hand. Your initial consultation is a review and planning session: we go through your labs, your questionnaire, and your symptom picture together, and then we formulate a plan that is personalized to you. That plan may include hormone therapy, lifestyle recommendations, and referrals to other members of the Bonita team where appropriate. You come prepared, we come prepared, and we build the path forward together.

No referral is needed. Book your initial consultation here. We encourage you not to wait if you are experiencing symptoms that are affecting your quality of life. For clients who are planning to transition off a GLP-1, Metabolic Balance® is especially valuable. It builds the nutritional foundation and sustainable habits that help you maintain your results long after the medication is done.
As always, Jessica reviews each client's health history and medications individually to make sure the program is tailored to where you are right now.

You are not alone in hearing this. Perimenopause can begin in the late 30s and throughout the 40s, well before the average age of menopause, which is 51 in Canada. Many women are symptomatic for years before receiving appropriate support. Our role at Bonita is to assess you based on your symptoms and your biology, not your age alone. If you feel dismissed elsewhere, we invite you to come and talk to us.
-
Not at all. While perimenopause and menopause care is a significant part of what we do, we also support women with other hormonal and metabolic conditions that affect the whole body. This includes PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), insulin resistance, thyroid-related concerns, and other conditions where hormonal imbalance is driving symptoms like irregular cycles, weight changes, fatigue, skin concerns, and mood shifts. If your hormones are affecting your quality of life, we want to hear about it, regardless of where you are in your hormonal journey.
