SKIN CLARITY
Acne & Back Acne Treatment in Waterloo Region
If persistent breakouts, congestion, or back acne are affecting how you feel about your skin, you deserve thoughtful care and a clear plan that supports long-term health and confidence.
ADULT ACNE IS USUALLY HORMONAL
Breakouts Do Not Always End After High School
If your skin was fine for twenty years and then started breaking out along your jaw and chin in your thirties or forties, that is not a skincare failure. Shifting estrogen and progesterone increase your skin's sensitivity to androgens, which drives oil production and inflammation in exactly those areas.
Which is why a stronger cleanser rarely fixes it, and why the same routine that worked at twenty-two stops working now.
We treat the skin and we look at what is driving it. Facials, peels, microneedling and laser handle the inflammation and the scarring, and where the hormonal picture is part of the problem, Jessica Caceres, Nurse Practitioner, can assess that too rather than sending you elsewhere.
THE APPROACH
A Guided Path Instead of Guesswork
Most acne benefits from a blend of professional treatments and medical-grade skincare. We begin by understanding what is contributing to your breakouts and then tailor a plan to calm inflammation, clear congestion, and prevent future flare-ups.

STRUCTURED PROGRAMS
Acne Boot Camp, a 12-Week Plan
For teens and young adults, we run a 12-week program rather than a series of one-off appointments, because acne responds to consistency more than intensity. It includes a DMK enzyme facial, an acne clarifying HydraFacial, an AlumierMD chemical peel, and bi-weekly check-ins with your medical aesthetician either in clinic or virtually.
$175 a month for three months, or $525 paid once.
For adults, our Acne Program runs three custom facials, three microneedling sessions, three chemical peels and three HydraFacials, and we build the order around your skin.

Every treatment at Bonita is performed under the oversight of Jessica Caceres, Nurse Practitioner. Your facials, peels and microneedling are done by our medical aestheticians, and because adult acne is so often hormonal, Jess is a few steps away when that turns out to be part of the picture.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Adult acne, especially in women, is most commonly driven by hormonal fluctuations. During perimenopause, shifting estrogen and progesterone levels can trigger excess sebum production and increase sensitivity to androgens, resulting in breakouts along the jaw, chin, and neck. Other contributing factors include stress (which elevates cortisol), certain medications, diet, and the use of pore-clogging skincare products. Understanding the root cause is essential before selecting a treatment approach.
-
We offer a range of clinically supported acne treatments, including medical-grade chemical peels, HydraFacial with acne-specific serums, laser treatments targeting acne-causing bacteria and inflammation, SkinPen microneedling for post-acne scarring, and medical-grade skincare protocols using AlumierMD and ZO Skin Health. For clients where hormonal imbalance is a contributing factor, Jessica Caceres, NP can assess and address the hormonal picture as part of the plan.
-
Yes. Back acne (often called bacne) is very common and very treatable. Many of the same treatment principles apply: reducing inflammation, clearing congestion, and regulating sebum production. Chemical peels and laser treatments can be performed on the back, and we can recommend a targeted home care routine to support your in-clinic treatments.
-
Some clients experience a brief purging phase in the first 2 to 4 weeks of starting a new medical-grade skincare protocol, as the skin accelerates its cellular turnover and brings congestion to the surface. This is temporary and a sign that the treatment is working. Our team will prepare you for what to expect and support you through this stage so you know what is normal and what warrants a check-in.
-
Most clients begin to see meaningful improvement within 6 to 12 weeks of consistent treatment. Acne is a chronic condition for many people, which means ongoing management is often more effective than one-time treatment. We build a plan that is realistic for your schedule, budget, and skin goals.
-
Absolutely. In fact, a consultation is exactly the right starting point. Our team will assess your skin, identify the likely contributing factors, and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your specific situation. You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis.
