Injectables 101: Safe Summer Strategies for Natural-Looking Results

Sun, sweat, and injectables - Yes, they can all coexist beautifully, if you play it smart. At Bonita, we know that your summer schedule can be packed with social events, days spent by the pool with your girls, or heading on a sexy vacay with your other half. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in a little skin-treat throughout the season. Whether you're considering Botox, fillers, or skin boosters, navigating summer treatments takes a little extra info and effort to keep your results smooth and your skin happy.

Here’s your go-to guide for getting injectables in the summer while keeping your skin safe and results natural.

Timing Is Everything

If you’ve got a beach vacation or a sun-drenched event coming up, plan your injectable treatments accordingly.

  • Botox & Dysport: These take about 3-7 days to fully kick in, so schedule at least a week before any major event.

  • Dermal Fillers: Swelling and bruising are common, so give yourself at least two weeks for everything to settle before showing off your refreshed look. Ie. Not right before your bestie's wedding.

  • Skin Boosters & Biostimulators: These work gradually to improve hydration and collagen, so think 4-6 weeks ahead for the best results.

Sun Exposure: What You Need to Know

Freshly treated skin is more sensitive to UV rays, which means extra sun protection is non-negotiable.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment to minimize swelling and irritation - You don’t want to look even more like a lobster.

  • SPF 50 is your best friend. Choose a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide for extra protection, and grab a wide brimmed hat to make it extra chic.

  • Skip the sauna, hot yoga, and intense workouts for at least 24-48 hours to avoid increased swelling or bruising.

Hydration & Healing

  • Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin holds onto fillers and Botox better, so keep your water intake up. Add lemon to your water or even electrolytes to jack it up.

  • Use soothing skincare. Think hyaluronic acid, peptides, and gentle, non-irritating moisturizers to keep your skin plump and happy.

  • Ice it down (gently). A cool compress can help with swelling, but skip direct ice application to avoid irritating the skin.
